It takes at least 4 months to process documents for taking an animal abroad

1) Veterinary passport of International standard

  • Data about the cat and the owner in 2 languages ​​(Ukrainian and one of the European languages);
  • Photo of the cat if it is 1 year old (optional).

2) Electronic Identification

  • Microchip injection into the withers;
  • Entering data on the microchip (chip barcode, injection site) in the animal’s veterinary passport (with the seal and signature of the veterinary clinic) and in international databases of chipped animals.

3) Vaccination against Rabies

  • The veterinary passport must indicate the name of the vaccine label with the vaccine number, signature, seal, date;
  • The duration of vaccination depends on the vaccine used and may not exceed 1 year.

4) Comprehensive vaccination against infectious diseases

  • Vaccinations must be given atleast 30 days and not more than a year before entering the country;
  • The veterinary passport must indicate the name of the vaccine label with the vaccine number, signature, seal, date.

* Steps 1 – 4 can be taken in one visit to the vet clinic (all wards of the Foundation already have a chip and rabies vaccination, the trip will require replacement of a new passport in the state clinic)

5) Comprehensive revaccination against infectious diseases

  • No later than 4 weeks after vaccination.

6) Certificate of blood test for antibody titer to rabies virus

  • Must be done 30 days after rabies vaccination, 3 months before departure;

The result of the study should show a level of neutralizing antibodies to rabies virus in the serum of 0.5 IU / ml or more.

7) Certificate of breeding value

Certificate that the animal is not of breeding value, and that the cat is not for sale; not necessarily if the cat is not purebred.

8) Form VET -1

The certificate is valid for 3 days, issued at the veterinary hospital, on the street. Volynska, 12 (Kyiv);

To receive VET-1, you can ask the vet clinic at the place of residence of the cat, that in his area there have been no cases of rabies in the last six months. (Take care of this in advance).

9) Deworming and Insecticide treatment

To be carried out with certified drugs 24-48 hours before departure. In addition, deworming is to be carried out systematically every 3-4 months, which should be marked in the veterinary passport.

10) Durable plastic carrier and strap

Carrying must comply with the requirements of IATA (International Air Transport Association) and fit the animal in size.

11) Veterinary health certificate

Form VET -1 is exchanged for an International veterinary certificate at the state border;

The international certificate must be completed in English or in the language of the country to which the cat is going.
